Inspired by the weaving technique of the wild baya weaver bird, designer Vincent Martínez has crafted modern outdoor furniture using traditional rope wrapping and knotting methods that POINT has been practicing since its inception over 100 years ago.
POINT’s most award-winning collection since it was launched in 2017, this collection with its soft, relaxed lines has reaped many international awards, such as the International Interior Design Association’s 2018 Global Excellence Awards, Gold Medal in the Ibero-American Biennial CIDI for Interior, Design and Landscape and the ADCV GOLD Award for Outdoor Furniture in 2017.
Each piece is created by hand, woven strand by strand. All these lounge and deep seating pieces have a powder-coated aluminum structure and characteristic rope weave. Textured polyester rope, salvaged from cut fiber, is woven and knotted around a hard-wearing aluminum structure. The cushions have a quick-dry foam core, which for an upcharge, can be lined with a protective casing to increase water resistance. The bottom of each cushion is left open to encourage quick drying and improve breathability. We have preselected Group 1 Tuvatextil (Spain) fabrics. Group 2 is extra water repellent.
POINT's City also uses rope as a sophisticated modern accent in its deep seating collection.
