Aluminum or Powder-Coated Aluminum is perfect for outdoor use due to its light weight and being highly weather resistant.
Caring for Aluminum. It is easy to care for: just use mild soap and water (no metal scrubbers please) to clean the surface. To repair minor scratches caused by handling, use touch-up pens in corresponding color.

Ceramics. Ceramic table tops are made of inorganic materials that crystallize at very high temperatures and are thus very hard and resistant to wear. This material, with a sleek and modern appearance, is distinguished by the following exceptional properties:

  • extremely resistant to abrasions and scratches
  • 100% water- and frost-resistant
  • resistant to stains
  • easy to maintain
  • UV-resistant

Caring for Ceramics. Ceramic table tops are easy to clean with a sponge and an all-purpose household cleaner. Afterwards, rinse and/ or wipe off to avoid streaks. Although the ceramic surface is extremely hard and wear-resistant, we do not recommend the use of cleaners with an abrasive or polishing action. Use only sponges, soft nylon brushes or cloths. Do not use brushes with hard bristles. Algae and moss can occur in places that remain cool and moist for prolonged periods of time and which are exposed to very little sunlight. Thanks to the closed surface, algae and moss will only grow on the top of the surface, making good cleaning very easy.

Solid Surface Materials incorporated in the Royal Botania Collection rely on the application of the Corian® or Kerrock® brands. Made of mass-dyed composite material, they combine mass with homogeneity, yet without seams or joints. The basic ingredient of this product is aluminum trihydrate (ATH). Other components are acrylic resins, which are used as a binder. Aluminum hydroxide makes the material very sturdy and also more heat resistant than other synthetic materials. Acrylate provides flexibility, making it easy to process and very strong.
Caring for Solid Surface Materials. Solid surface materials are non-porous, so spilled fluids cannot penetrate the surface. Certain chemicals can cause staining or can damage the surface. These are strong acids, ketones such as acetone, chlorinated solvents such as chloroform, and combinations of strong solvents such as paint strippers. Daily maintenance is one with a mild abrasive cream. The surface is renewable and minor damage and scratches can be completely repaired, restoring the surface to its original condition using fine sandpaper (320) or a soft abrasive cream and scouring pad. Mild cigarette burn marks can be removed easily in the same way.

Teak. As Royal Botania never compromises on quality, only mature, carefully selected, fully grown teakwood is used, all of it harvested in accordance with the strictest environmental standards. The wood's renowned durability is due to its high content of natural oils. The resulting minimal moisture absorption prevents warping and thus gives teak its enormous stability. In addition, teakwood is highly resistant to attacks by pests. It is because of these qualities of matured teakwood, as well as its exceptionally beautiful color and structure, that it is a premium wood especially suitable for outdoor environments.
Caring for Teak. The beautiful thing about teak furniture is that you really don't have to do anything to maintain it unless you really want to. Set it up and leave it out all year long, and it will still hold up year after year, no matter where you live. It's able to withstand climate changes without cracking or warping (or needing maintenance). It will change color as it ages, and the eventual result is a distinguished that is a mark of true teak furniture. But if you prefer the golden brown color of new teak you should click here, for products that can help maintain that color longer. We'll warn you: maintaining the golden brown color will take some work. Our recommendation is to let your teak weather.
One final note: DO NOT use teak oil on your teak furniture if you're planning to use it outdoors! Adding oil will cause your beautiful teak furniture to turn black with mildew. It's a bad idea, and something we learned the hard way. As tempting as it is, don't do it. The furniture has enough oil in it already to last for decades, you don't need to replenish it.

Tempotest Fabric. All Royal Botania fabrics have been woven from mass-colored acrylic fibre—your guarantee of optimal water- and UV resistance, plus years of comfort. Royal Botania cushions are resistant to heavy rain, however we recommend they are covered overnight.
Caring for Tempotest Fabric. Most stains on the fabrics can be cleaned with mild soap and water. Simply remove dirt by scrubbing with water (<104°F) and natural soap. Rinse liberally with clean water to remove all the soap. Removable covers can be washed at 104°F in the washing machine. Do not iron or spin dry. To prevent creasing replace the covers while still damp, and dry in the open air. Store the material in a dry, well-ventilated area during the winter.
