Mamagreen created an innovative outdoor furniture line called X-Leg that will go with their many existing dining collections. X-Leg is comprised only of extendable dining tables and benches. Take a look at the pieces and you will see quickly where the name comes from: aesthetically shaped criss-cross legs lend these tables and benches a solid foundation. The legs are available in either brushed stainless steel or powder-coated aluminum with a white, taupe or black finish.
Mamagreen also offers a choice of table/ bench tops. If you are into the new look, then go with the beautifully structured, rich-in-color and high-in-oil plantation teak. But should you be looking for a piece with character, consider a top made from recycled teakwood. Its imperfections receive a final touch by being wire-brushed.
Whatever your choice, you can't go wrong with a X-Leg table and X-Leg bench.
Industrial Cool: Mamagreen uses stainless steel type 304 because the chrome and nickel in its composition makes it extremely corrosion resistant and very durable. Stainless steel is a 100% recyclable alloy.
Care: Stainless steel outdoor furniture requires care and cleaning to maintain its clean, shiny look. When exposed to a salty environment, cleaning will need to happen more regularly to avoid superficial corrosion. When the furniture is used on the patio or in the garden, stainless steel furniture is fairly low maintenance. Several products to clean stainless steel are on the market (check out our Stainless Steel Cleaner & Guard, on our Care Products site), but a car washing soap will also do the job. Use a soft sponge and soft cloth, never use a metal brush or steel wool.
Contemporary and Light: Being a non-corroding alloy, powder-coated aluminum is ideal for outdoor use thanks to its main specifications: lightweight and highly weather resistant. Mamagreen uses the strong alloy 6063 and coats the frame with an electrostatically applied, UV-resistant, powder-coated finish.
Care: Maintenance is in general very easy with soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth. Never use hot or boiling water. Also, do not use metal scrubbers that could damage the surface. Cleaning is recommended 2-3 times per year. To repair minor scratches caused by handling, use touch-up pens in an equivalent color.
First Choice for Outdoor Furniture: Teak is well known as the ideal wood for garden furniture, thanks to its beautiful structure, rich color and high oil content. Mamagreen's teak comes from sustainable teak plantations in Indonesia, with a reforestation program. Managed by a certified government body and working together with the European community, this ensures legality and ecological standards. Mamagreen only uses grade-A teakwood for its uniform color, oil content and close grain which minimizes potential damage in harsh outdoor environments.
Care: Teak outdoor furniture requires regular cleaning and basic care to maintain its appearance over the many years it can be enjoyed. If untreated and exposed to UV, teak will slowly turn silver gray, but it will remain as strong as treated teak wood. Should you not like that look, we compiled the most common care products available on the market on our Care Products site. please be sure to follow the application instructions carefully. Wrongly applied care products can cause lasting damage. Note that if you start to use maintenance products to keep the original appearance, you will need to reapply on a yearly basis.
Basic Care: The number one rule is regular cleaning to avoid buildup of mold and mildew. Avoid leaving food-rests, leaves or dirt for an extended period of time on your teak tabletop. Do not store furniture in a very humid, non ventilated space and do not cover your furniture with a plastic cover, teak wood needs breathing. Note that leaving items on the table for a long period can cause discoloration. Teak changes color when exposed to UV.
A Unique Character: Teakwood, a close-grain and oil-rich hardwood, is especially stable in its recycled form after being used for decades and is, therefore, an ideal material to produce long-lasting furniture pieces. Unlike plantation teak, recycled wood has a truly unique character with each piece having specific variations. Color differences, knots, holes and cracks are left where nails or bolts were used before.
An Eco-Friendly Source: Teakwood was used for centuries as a common and extremely durable building material on the island of Java. Many neglected buildings are to be found scattered around the island, and many old warehouses are being replaced by brick constructions, thus a lot of teak wood becomes available for furniture manufacturing.
Care: Recycled teak needs regular cleaning with a synthetic brush, soap and water. Avoid leaving food rests and organic materials (such as leaves) for extended periods on table tops. Untreated with teak protectors, recylced teak will develop a grey patina. Your furniture will potentially show stains during aging. This includes minor black spots that occur where nails or bolts were left in the furniture. But that will no damage the quality of the wood itself. Sweating of corrosive rests may also occur in extreme weather conditions. There are lots of products on the market to treat teak, please be sure to follow the application instructions carefully. Wrongly applied care products can cause lasting damage. Selecting recycled teak for outdoor furniture is choosing for character and uniqueness.
