Using Your Own Fabric

We can upholster any piece of our furniture with your own fabric—whether you purchase the material from us or from another supplier. It's easy.

How does it work?

You send yardage to our workshop (or, if you're using one of our fabrics, we'll ship it), where the furniture's upholstered and then delivered to you. Simple.

How much does it cost?

The price for each piece "in your own fabric" is listed where appropriate in our catalog and on this website. If you have one of our old catalogs, be sure to contact us for updated pricing, availability, and yardage requirements—or check the website for the most recent information. You purchase the fabric on your own, so you can buy something that costs $5 per yard or $500— it's up to you.

Shipping is free for all upholstered furniture shipped within the continental U.S.

How do I get started?

Before you purchase your fabric or send it to the workshop, please contact us to confirm yardage quantities and get us in the loop. You'll need to let us know all about your fabric:

- its manufacturer and item number
- the name of the pattern and color
- the fabric width and the vertical repeat (if any)

Your fabric supplier should be able to provide that information if you're not sure.

Once you know your fabric's specs, refer to the yardage requirement guide for the sofa, chair or ottoman you want to get in our catalog or furniture kit. (Again, this information occasionally changes, so be sure to confirm the yardage with us before purchasing your fabric.)

What about decorative trim and throw pillows?

All of the yardage requirements listed include allowances for lip cording and accent pillows (if they're included with the piece, of course) so you don't need to send extra fabric UNLESS you'd like to have your accent pillows covered in a different fabric or if you'd like a contrast cording. Contact us for yardage/cord requirements if that's something you want to do.

Once I've found a fabric and checked with you to confirm yardage requirements, what then?

Place your order with us, then have your fabric shipped to one of our workshops. Most fabric resources are used to shipping goods around, so ask them to UPS it for you and save yourself the trouble. Please make sure that any fabric that is sent is clearly marked with your name and that the face (or "right" side) and direction of the fabric are indicated. If you're ordering multiple pieces of furniture and sending several different fabrics, please mark which fabric is for which piece. It makes things easier.

Once I've placed my order order, where should I send my fabric?

The shipping address for your fabric depends on the piece you're ordering, so contact us and we'll provide details about where your fabric should be sent.

We ask that you send just a SWATCH of your fabric—again, with face and direction indicated—to our Seattle office:

Curran
Attn: [your first & last name] order
1932 First Ave, Suite 905
Seattle, WA 98101

And then..?

Once the workshop has received ALL of the fabric for your order, the clock starts ticking and production begins. Production usually takes 6-8 weeks—sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. It depends on the time of year, the size of your order, whether custom sizes are involved, etc. Depending on where you live, estimate another 1-2 weeks for shipping.
